End of 2006 meme

Maria reflecting on the past year...

1. What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?

I went to KL four times in a year.
I met a boyfriends' parents
I started my own business with 3 friends
I took tennis lessons
I went for a coaching seminar
I flew airasia and tigerairways
I found my way into the doors of O&M - an agency i always wanted to interview for
I journalled.
I ate half of Malaysia's national debt
I let a close friend go

There's more but i thought i'd stop at 10

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I kept one out of two and yes I will make sure I get the non fufilled one done AND have a new resolution to go wedding crashing with herman and angel!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes, my sister in law. I have a nephew and became an auntie for the first time!

4. Did anyone close to you die?


5. What countries did you visit?

Malaysia & Thailand

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?

A job that excites me, an increased fitness level.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory?

21st October

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting an interview with O&M

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not getting into O&M

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

In January, was the sickest I have been, I was throwing up bile and had to get shots
In December, had barrel trauma which is just a glamour term for impacted sinus cavity.
Great ways to usher and end a new year.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Going to buy! Tickets to Phantom of the Opera, I wanted to watch that since I was 14.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

I can think of everyone of my friends doing something that made me smile or tear with pride.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

I have no idea, dun remember being appalled or depressed this year!

14. Where did most of your money go?

Petrol, Cabs, Food, Presents, Drinks, Play and concert tickets and not much else

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Getting accepted into the 1st tier of the Unis for my long distance program, Queen Isis events and making plans every weekend with Angel

16. What song/album will always remind you of 2006?

Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

1. Happier or sadder? Happy.
2. Thinner or fatter? Fatter for sure, those last 2 months haven't left me
3. Richer or poorer? Richer I think but that's all going to shits on my holiday and brother's upcoming wedding.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Spent more time with mum and kept up those tennis lessons

20. How did you spend Christmas?

Candlelight service, choir cantata, xmas service and lunch, Family, coffee club, presents, angel's gorgeous snowflake pendant present, new books, mark's house, wine, stuffed chickens, pies, reubens house, making tiramisus, the ol tradition of swapping socks with Mario so ours is right on top the tree, 2 and half hour shopping on the 23rd, and with the people who made christmas, CHRISTMAS.

21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?

Angel in the nigh-igh-igh-igh-ight!

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?

Never expected to but I did.

ED and Nip/Tuck

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

No but I have very different feelings for someone now than I did this time last year.

26. What was the best book(s) you read?

My sister's keeper - know how every time you have a moment and you can't find the words that describes it? Jodi Picolut does that for you brilliantly in this book.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

That all I lack in musical talent, Mark makes up for.

28. What did you want and get?

My family and friend's awesome support and company.

29. What did you want and not get?

My colleague to not leave because he was a bright spark in the office! Cadbury Sandwich chocolates from Taiwan and Pierre Hermes macaroons from Paris but hey I really don't care!

30. What were your favourite films of this year?

V for Vendetta, Ice Age 2

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Turned a quarter of a centch. Which day? My birthday festivities span 2 weeks long. I had a slumber party with my girlfriends - pyjamas, icecream, pedicures..

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Switching jobs.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?

Same as every other year, preppy sweaters, crazy unruly untamed hair and the odd few pounds that come back depending on season.

34. What kept you sane?

Angel, she always keeps my head in check and makes light of any situation when I lose it, and she teaches me new things everyday.
Oh and Sheila because she's so retarded, she makes me look very normal.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Billy Crystal. Ive always wanted to marry him and more so after 700 Sundays. But Jonathon Rhys Meyers in MI3 - Hellllloooooo.....

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Saddam's hanging - pretty stirring no?

37. Who did you miss?

Nita and Shamez.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Mark Neelan De Silva and all the people he brought with him.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.

No happiness exists without its woe, no wealth without its cost and no life without its full measure of sorrowing and death.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year?

We all laugh and we all cry we all live and we all die but through it all and in between, time flies.
