Happy Birthday Gale!
|
|
To celebrate Gale's birthday, Nicole decided to throw her a surprise party and call her friends down to commemorate her turning 18!
Started Saturday with a shopping trip at Mustafa Centre. They never fail to amaze me, supermarkets have aisles for canned food, Mustaffa's has aisles for sardines! Speaking of sardines, we had power ice milo at the cafe (mustttt try) and Geylang Lorong 10 spice tree curry puffs for breakfast (and this is also a must tryyy) so we were pretty fueled for the gruelling shopping ahead of us. Mustaffa's is so huge if you forgot something halfway and have to walk back with your basket of 6 pet bottle drinks then good luck to you!
We went back to York Hotel (if you've been following fotopages and note a trend here then 5 points to you!) and decorated the room with a pink and red theme - Gale's favourite colours. Nicole made a huge banner with pretty glitter that read HAPPY 18th GALE!!! And still, VJ could nicely write next to it, Happy 21st Birthday GAYLE!!! Classic!
6 people turned up first, then 16, then abt 60 filled the place! It was very very packed, and we thought 6 pizzas might have been over-ordering! Had to order 4 more after and that stayed around for about 2 and a half mins. Guess the trick of cutting them into small sizes to fool the stomach didn't quite work either. For entertainment we played Win, Lose or Draw. Everyone did well enough to have the game tied til the very end. Birthday girl's drawing was exceptional! According to Shane, so was Elfy's.
Shane: You should be there when we play Win Lose or Draw in camp la, its soo fun man.
Maria: Heeee!
Shane: You should see lah, Elfy's drawings of animals.
Maria: Good ah?
Shane: PHOOO!!!! Tsk tsk, tsk. *sighs of disbelief*
Maria: *Impressed*
Shane: His American werewolf in Paris....
Maria: Uh-huh
Shane: Looks like a duck!
Maria:
Nicole got quite a yummerlicious cake from Angie's. Rather small so divided by about a hundred people everyone got a tiny sliver. Good stuff!! More people came, some people left and then by 12, some left to CocoLatte with the birthday girl to celebrate the rest of her festivus. VJ and Michael got hit on by a bunch of older women, wheee wheet! Nadya Hutagalung was there as well, whee whee wheet! She was decked in a bit of a Mak Nenek dress but very very pretty indeed *tosses a ho ho *. Mario would have sold his kidney to be there.
I didn't stay the night but I heard the aftermath required 7 huge mother garbage bags for a cleanup and and! Michael's pick up line for the day: *throw a bag on someone and go* "If you're today's trash, can I take you out?"
Kudos Nicole on all your hard work, all of us had a great time, you throw a great party !

Parties Parties everywhere! Not a drop to drink!
|
|
Sherin- Helloo all!!! it;s been awhile! We threw a picnic party for me stepmom's going away (she's leaving the hospital she's worked in for over 20 years!) It went pretty smoothly. We made all the food (Mashed Potatoes, Ham n Cheese and Tuna and Nutella Sandwiches, Chicken Wings, Corn on the cob, All sorts of cookies, Prawn Sambal, Fried Beehoon, Muffins, Grapes and Salad!!)and picked a wonderful spot at Tanjong Beach just near the beach bar and I tell you, that place is rocking man!!
It was a Sunday afternoon but the way everyone was hamming it up, you would never have guessed! They had live performances by fire twirlers and Hanafi showed up with his percussion band Wicked Aura, and as usual they were fantastic. Really brought everyone to their feet! If you guys ever have the chance to hear them live, you should!!!!
Few days after was my Dad's birthday and the family went to Riverwalk. Happy Birthday Daddu!!!! He's 53 now (but of course, he will always claim he's 30!) The funniest bit was when the waiters realised it was his birthday, they switched on a cd that played a really slow birthday song throughout the restaurant!! My poor dad was soo embarrased he immediately pushed the cake toward Rajesh and went, nah nah! Rajesh, Happy Birthday! Ahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Nice try old man!
All in all, a wonderful fortnight spent with great people!! (even if it was alot more...erm...sober then we're used to! heh!!! Later Peeps!!)
P.S : Booked tickets for London/Paris/Dubai!! Whoohooo! Going in June! Can't Wait!!!

Baskin Robbins, you make my rocking world go round!

Went up to KL over the weekend to see Prodigy Live at an F1 sponsored concert in KL Tower. It was atop a building like that Heineken Elevation 245 party they held here sometime back. Took the 5pm bus with Sharon, Mark and Myrvin and we were confident we could get there before 1130 which was when Prodigy was scheduled to come on. Murphy's Law would have it that this would be the one time that a concert would not only start on time, it would start early too.
Heard them play "Breathe" while we were finding our way up, which killed me cos that is possibly quite the best Prodigy song ever . Rather disappointing but we had a solid 40 mins from the time we reached so that was quite swell. The whole thing was rather jumping, the vibe from the music was really powerful, the crowd was sweating it out and there we were, four of us with our haversacks to push our way through. Thank goodness we decided not to drop our bags first, we'd have caught all of 2 mins of the concert. After the concert, the best DJ in Malaysia sold out and played RnB so the crowd got a lil bummed and then it started to rain. So that was the end of that.
We had no place to go after that so we had supper at a Mamak near a pool salon and went back to the hotel. Cititel gave up our reservation (nice one!) and appeased us with an upgrade to a junior suite at this place called Hotel Armada. Sharon and I were just glad we weren't stranded for the night and we really only needed a place to crash for 5 hours.
Got up early and went to Mid-Valley, shopped at FOS (came out with nothing even though there was a 1 for 1 sale, accomplishment!! ), got a cheap pedicure done, and ATE! Sharon brought me to this lovely penang cafe, and the food was awessome! We had 3 dishes for like 7 bucks each and sealed the deal with Baskin Robbins. The coconut ice cream....... OH. MY.GOD. Dun even get me started. I think I had tears in my eyes everytime I took a bite.
Why does Singapore do stupid things like close Baskins and Dunkin Donuts and then replace them with the stale donuts they have at 7-11 called munchkins which no one likes and doesn't ever buy?!
So that was my rather decadent weekend, Venessa's promised to make some Ramly burgers so I don't decide to travel to KL for some decent food every 2 weeks.

It doesn't get better than this!
|
|
Maria: Excuse me while I imagine what our kids will look like.....
Azreen messaged me on Friday and said there was going to be a shoot with Jon Jonsson for Men's Health and if I wanted in, I could go down and sit in for the shoot. Think there was always some sort of speculation about him doing a shoot with Men's Health but there was no actual confirmation til now. They always thought he was too short, doesn't the rest of his pure physical perfection make up for his lack of 2 inches in height? I've always wondered...
Met Azreen in her office, she said I could go in for the photoshoot or I could wait until she conducted an interview with him and I could sit in. (Does a Joey Lawrence: Like, Whoa.) So i decided to go in anyways, I mean would cookie monster refuse entry to the Oreo factory? I think not. I went in and lo and behold! Jon Jonsson in the flesh, I promise you, if possible, he is 109 times better looking in real life!
He posed for me (er, *coughcoughthemenshealthpplcough*) for a glorious 2 and a half hours! With boardshorts, with a basketball, with him doused in water and of course there was the make up artist that touched him up and rubbed baby oil all over him every 2 and a half minutes. Oh the lucky oppurtunist male!
Azreen gave up the interview, another colleague wanted to do it so she waited til Jon was done, apologised for working him too hard and invited him for coffee. He said sure and sat with us at the book cafe! He sat next to me too, cos you know, I was doing a rabied dog impersonation at anyone who attempted to take the chair next to me.
And that was that! Me being a 14 year old again, the age of feeling young - where lust overcomes all logic and reason. And this time, even all my guy friends got it, some even shook my hand when I told them this was the new guy I was dating! ! Think the last I had an encounter like that was when I met Mark Owen and got all balmy!! But that is best left for another story isn't it?

Sharon's moved into a beautiful beautiful townhouse complete with bath tubs and pool!!!! WHOOHOOOO! Guess we'll be spending a whole lot more time there!! We didn't take pics of her room but trust us when we say its gorgeous, very well done up and decorated (We helped with the ikea cupboards!) and abt the size of Maria's house!
At her recent house warming (or rather, roomwarming-heh) we all brought food and made an evening of it! Chocolate fondue, cake , ice cream, prata and mutton curry -which was to die for!! and loads and loads of wine!!! but of course, us being the terrible drunks that we are, decided to ditch all plans for a nice quiet evening in and deicided to paint the town red.
First stop! Attica Too. It was Ruth's last night out and our friend Sabrina was having a birthday party and the Theme was S and M. Hahahaha! Whips and chains galore!! After which, we headed out to Hendrix and danced till 6!! and then!!! we went to a little club at Boat Quay - can;t remember what it was called! and stayed out till 8AM!!! All this from a quiet night in, can you imagine if we actually planned a big blow out? We'd be in a faraway land by the time we sobered up!!
As always, we had a brilliant time with some fantastic people!!!! Love you all! Posts will be coming a lil more fast and furious now after a long lag. Sorta akin to a binge after a long period of dieting and abstinence!

The first time in 8 years!
|
|
Ahh history has been made so this is a significant entry. Maria has struck Mark Wahlberg off her list of No 1 Male after 8 years. Don't worry folks, I assure you a worthy handover. Everyone, meet Jon Jonsson.
First off, for all the times that I have whined abt Starworld cancelling off worthy shows for crap ones, I retract everything I said. Thank you Starworld, you have redeemed yourself with the screening off Manhunt. When the trailers first started showing, my first thought was wow, now THAT is some quality TV. And imagine the glee when I found out it was gonna be a reality show instead of a one-off pageant. Glad to say I haven't missed any episodes (not that thats hard to do considering they only gave us 8 to begin with!!!) and sadly, one week from today, will be the last time I see Jon on my television screen. Of course, I'm still harbouring the tiny hope I see him on the streets since he's in Singapore for 2 months. (Now if THAT's not a sign we're supposed to be married...)
Steering of Jon for awhile and talking abt the show, its amazing how they bumped off Paulo and Hunter and chose to keep Rob. I mean really, compare this pic of Paulo, and this pic of Hunter and they picked Rob?? What is up?? Paulo was my 2nd fav after Jon. Followed by Kevin Peake (so saw him being the mole), Tate and Hunter. Funnily enough, all my favourites are standing together in this pic!
K enough of sounding like a 13 year old, I came across the week before's episode recap on a reality TV forum and its the funniest thing I have read in a long time. This girl is witty and hilarious and I went beserk when I came to the line: "Its time to choose wardrobe. Jon is glad to go first, but worried that he might make a mistake like Matt did, and go home. (Except that Matt's real mistake wasn't choosing the Aston Martin. it was choosing to eat all those Twinkies.)" The recaps a lil long but very worth it!

Love is the Message & the Message is LOVE!
|
|
Allo all!!!! Seeing as there were some of us that were recently, gladly, sadly and not so badly single we decided to to celebrate Valentine's with the people we love most! Just the way it should be! And boy was Love in the Air!!
We started the night meeting at City Hall, all of us were dressed to the nines and brought chocolates and gifts. First stop, New Asia Bar for dinner, the pizza was soooo good and the wings, oh man, divine!! They have the BEST wings in the world!! pity the sauce wasn't too tasty- but still. We stayed for half price cocktails hour and then headed down to town. As everything around was super crowded we went to Mac's to exchange gifts- It was a whole lot of fun and we all got kisses, flowers , chocolates and gifts!
Then! to Aquadisiac for their Swingles party.....the place was beautiful! There was only one problem though, there were noo Swingles...some ppl here and there and that was it really. We got out pictures taken by the management for their website! But honestly, I'm sure it was because we were the only big group there! Haha! But nevertheless, we sipped wine and got roses and basically had a great time . 6 dates were soo much better then 1 ! heehee! To all our 'dates' that night, we love you guys!!!! Till next time people- Spread the love!!!!

When a minor comes of age...

Sherin- And so it went, a bunch of girls (and one boy) with the whole weekend to have the time of their lives! First stop!- JB!!! went shopping for some tees then headed to Singa Selalu. You guys have to try this place!! Really wonderful seafood and soooo cheap!! We had prawns and crabs and fried rice, veggies and dessert for 7 people and the bill was $12 each!! then we headed to No.5 at Orchard road and had beers and talked till 3. Saturday we were up bright and early in anticipation for the big day!! Lil Mark Boi turns 18!!! WHOOOHOOO!!! He is now legally allowed to....umm..nevermind! So we followed tradition and gave him his LAST childish bash, A Macdonald's party! So we blindfolded him and kidnapped him, but the idiots at Macca's spoit it as the minute he step in, the lady waiting at the door yelled. 'Welcome to MacDonalds!!!' leh. haiz...anyways, it was good fun and we had our fill of the scrumptous cake. Aftter that we left to arrange his next surprise, a Yorke hotel stay!! Yes we went all out, he really is a precious lil fella to us! So off we went to decorate!! blew ballons and hung crepe paper in all of 20 mins! We had quite a party after awhile as more people started streaming in. And we finally met Mark;s friends who I must say were a nice fun bunch! Then off we headed to ThaWu, the only place that let the younger ones in! It really dawned on us that we were sooo much older then all of em! haha! oh well, it had to happen! All in all , it was quite a success! And knowing us, i'm sure we'd be doing it all again soon enough! LOVE YOU MARK BOI!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! *hugs*
