Allo All!

Reloaded after deleting the entry: Thanks to Veronyka, GaoJu & John for the ones they took!

Sorry pics of the benefit took so long to come, I didn't get a chance to upload them before I went off to HK. Didn't have access in HK for a whole week so now I'm back and have about 411 pics in my camera, I can just hear the memory in my camera screaming, I can't take it anymore!!!

The benefit went great! On the 2nd day they announced we managed to raise about 120K but I'm not sure if that was in all or just the 2nd night. Was still a good figure after all and most importantly, everyone had fun doing what they did. All dressed up in old English attire and performed old music hall style. We had can can dancers, belly dancers, skits, a guy who put his whole body in a balloon, a chorus belting out songs like Daisy Daisy, 6 yr old girls who played the harps and barmaids walking around!

Check out all our outfits! Hahaha!

Pierced!!

#1 Forms signed
#2 Long enough tongue checked
#3 Jewellery chosen
View all 15 photos...
Nicole finally decided to get her tongue pierced! She'd been excited about it for awhile and thought about it for over a year so she thought now would be a good time to finally go ahead and get it done.

We followed her to Far East Plaza and went to Primitive. I think they're damn good. Clean place (smells almost medicinal when you come in) and everyone is highly experienced. Well they look it anyway. And they make sure they show you fresh needles and all that... relieves your nerves a bit! Can be highly daunting!

So she filled out her form, paid the $75 buckeroos and went it to the room. Only one person was allowed in so Gale (Nic's sister) followed. Gale said she was so squrimish, she was looking away while taking photos - they came out rather well though!
Nicole thought it was an all right experience, just some throbbing pain later so plenty of ice and cold water are in order. She can't eat spicy food and seafood for 4 WEEKS! It looks good though! No signs of bleeding or major swelling yet so YAY!

Talking about piercings, the WEIRDEST one I've ever seen IN MY LIFE is in the punching bag at the back of the throat. The only thing you can see in a Strepsils ad? Yeah there!!!! K wait, let me find a pic. Not for the fainthearted man. Makes you wonder how they even got in there in the first place? K click here.

Then itchy fingers me asked what starter jewellery can be used for a tragus pierce cos I think big ones are ugly and will put me off getting one done. But turns out, you can choose a nice small ballbearing with a jewel at the front. But that leaves one question. My nerves. I'm so scared!! Imagine a needle going through the cartilage ... so its tempting to just go get it done at 77th street with a gun. Bam! Easily done but after reading an article on needles vs a piercing gun, it really makes sense to choose needles over guns. That said, tragus pierce needle: $55-70 bucks. Tragus gun pierce: $8. Do the math.

Talk only ah? I'm still scared!!

On a lighter note, Sherin and I are involved in a charity gala concert for HIV/AIDS benefit. Its in the theme of an old time music hall so there will be old English choruses, can can dancers, comedy, skits and harpists who are all of I don't know.... 7 years old? Has been quite fun rehearsing. Thursday is opening night and Friday is opening night so will get lots of pics of the event and post em up here by Monday so check back!

Okie, plog soon! Cheerio Chin Chin!

It does look painful huh! Esp the graphic needle through pic! Even Nicole got a shock when she saw what she went through haha! Fri 29-Oct-2004 02:00

Down Memory Lane #1

The much coveted cake
A 6 yr old stuck in each of us
Check out our fancy hats!
View all 26 photos...
Yesterday, over our weekly Idol and OC veg out night, Melissa brought a McDonalds cake! This has to go down as one of the best cakes ever made. And its terribly worth it too for the price we paid. Thinking back to where the cake originated from, we took a little trip down memory lane...

Sumita's 21st Birthday - March 2002

We were thinking about what we wanted to do for Sumita's 21st and she said we could do whatever but she had to have a Mcdonald's cake. So we called McDonalds to place an order but they said their cakes couldn't be sold seperately, they came with the kids party package. So the next logical step, was to throw... a MCDONALDS KIDS PARTY! We did the works, ate our happy meals with spiked cokes (courtesy of Ajay), counted the Ronald Mcdonalds on our caps, played who could pick the most straws and raised our hands when we knew a question. We won balloons and all! When it was time for our game playing, a friend of ours excused himself to go to the loo and didn't come back til 3 hours later cos it was all rather kiddish for him. You'd think he'd have gotten used to the whole retardism after hanging out with a bunch of wackos for so long!

Of course, we had the stares of wonderment from many because no one at the table was below 20 years old. Must have been quite the sight. At the end of the day, we gave our helium balloons and little sesame street beanies to a few kids nearby. So besides having a ton of fun, we made a couple of kids happy too.

I'm sure in the due course of time, we'll dig up some more old pictures of past events that will still bring erupts of laughter everytime we think about them. But in the meantime, here's our first trip down memory lane....

Aww, that birthday celebration looks so sweet even tho' kiddish! Sometimes, it's just enough to be a kid. Fri 22-Oct-2004 07:30

Happy Birthday Nicole!!

My star cake!
Nic's ghost cake!
The welcoming surprise commitee!
View all 36 photos...
Ahhh how timely, the end of the festivus for me and the start of Nicole's!

Last Thursday, Sherin's mum baked a lovely cake chockful of big and little stars for me and on Sunday she made a ghost cake for Nic so I think we can safely say we won't be placing any orders from Bakerstreet anytime soon! Awesome I say!

The surprises all unfolded one by one on Saturday! In the morning, Sherin got me and brought me to Tranquility Spa where she treated me to a full body traditional massage! She had her hair and a foot reflexology done whilst waiting for me and I thought her foot wrapped up in a big yellow towel was just the funniest thing so I took a pic of that. (What DON'T I take a pic of?) This place does spa parties as well so for wholesome hen nights, you can bring your food there or cater and then have everyone go in for massages. The owner was also telling us of some girls who went there to get primmed for their prom and they had their dates pick them up from there with limos and corsages!

After that, I managed to go back and clock about an hour of sleep and then Sherin picked me up again for THE BIGGIE! After awhile, I realised we were going to Sentosa but I was utterly confused as to what we were going to do there since we have already experimented with everything (from diving with the sharks to climbing the hideous merlion!) Sherin said that what we had planned wasn't til another hour and if I wanted to check the campsites just to while away sometime (since I've always wanted to go camp). So we took the monorail and when we got off at our site, I saw Nicole, Melissa and Sharon waving balloons madly at us! They had set up camp!!

So the packlist started to make sense (the towels to layout and the trackpants to sleep in case of mosquitoes) and what was most amazing was the way they catered to everything I would like! They got 2 spanking new fondue pots, one for cheese and one for chocolate (this is where the small thin fork came in), went on a madhunt for portugese egg tarts and snack chocolates, bought lychees and mangoes, and event brought a whole coconut for me cos I love coconut juice! It was a small event cos I didn't feel like celebrating big scale this year (comes with age) so it was just about 8 of us. We didn't manage to get a tent so Sentosa let us use their premises for free!

In the night, we went for monorail rides, bus rides to explore a bit. Nic's sister Gale came at night and we stayed up all night playing "Kings" and telling lame jokes. When we finally decided to sleep at 6am, we realised it wasn't such a great idea. Being so close to nature, we were awoken by loud morning bird calls, screeching monkeys and exploring peacocks! I am soo not a bird person! And by 650, the sun came blazing down on us so at 7, everyone was pretty much wide awake and we realised one night of roughing it out was enough so we packed and went home! (Yes, checking into the Beaufort halfway into the night was suggested but we resisted!)

I made it to church in the morning,. went for drink driving after that (considering the state I was in) and then had an hour and a half to sleep before we went to Thanying for dinner for Nic's birthday! The food wasn't half as swell as Sherin and I remembered it to be so that was a little disappointing! I had the day off on Monday cos I had my driving test so I managed to go home and sleep in til 1 in the afternoon to make up for lost shuteye!

And I failed my driving test.

Hehe, thanks Jacinta! Was a lil down for all of 2 hours but nothing fondue and care packages that say: "You have the license to drive us up the wall anyday!" can't fix. Wed 20-Oct-2004 02:25

Go fatty, its my birthday! We're gonna party like its my b'day!

Continuation of the festivus!

Today was surpise number 1, 2, 3, 4.

Surprise #1: Melissa and Sherin came to my place on the 11th Monday. Sherin and I were coming back from our charity drama practice and Melissa was already in my house. We sat there and just talked then at 3 mins to midnight, they got me in the kitchen and we casually looked around for food while Melissa went missing for awhile to probably "make a call". Then at midnight, they brought me out to the living room where Melissa had spread out an array of 2 pizzas, chicken drumlets and a chocolate gateau cake. They had come to usher my birthday, just 3 of us which was awesome. My mum passed them a card to pass me which read: Dear Daughter, I can't imagine you being more wonderful than you already are... But knowing you, you'd probably try. That was how nice....

Surpise #2: A nice bunch of calla lilies came to the office today. By the best people in the world: Sherin and Melissa! This came after Sherin and Nicole said I could decide on anything for lunch, polar bear hooves in vinegar also being an option. I decided on very exotic Mee Goreng. We trodded all the way to Boat Quay but did they have Mee Goreng? Noooo..... but they had cheese prata! So Teh Peng and cheese prata was a potent combo also.

Surprise #3 - An office cake!! In my 3 years here, I never had an office cake cos my previous boss never really bothered with the whole cut cake in the pantry thingamajig so now he's left, Sherin arranged for a Bakers Inn cake and everyone came at 4 to cut cake together gather.

Surprise #4 - This is a combination of a few things! One being my primary school friend whom I haven't spoken to in like 5 years wishing me a happy birthday and she was one of a few people who made the whole day complete by calling. The other being Ruth sending me a nice bebe blouse all the way from aussie and reaching me on the day itself. The last being my going to cell and expecting 6-10 ppl (normal) but all in all, 19 ppl showed up! Very vibrant with so many around, was quite fun! 3 of us celebrated our birthdays with 2 of us sharing the same date itself. Food was GALORE. We had so much of fish leftover from the nasi lemaks, it was very much like Jesus feeding the 5,000. You ate and ate but there was always some left.

By now we'd think, whoa! What an eventful day! But festivus for the restofus, only comes to a close on Saturday! What is planned I don't know yet but my clues so far are to pack: 4 towels, 1 pair of trackpants and a small thin fork.

Intriguing!

Burpday!

Linguine with crab and chilli
View all 29 photos...
Highlight of the week: I bought a whisk!

I really wanted to make oozy chocolate cake (the kind of cakes that look set on the inside but ooze chocolate when you break them?) So I bought the eggs, the sugar, the cocoa powder and all, then realised.... I didn't have muffin trays. And neither did NTUC! Maybe its not such a bad thing... its birthday week for me so will have at least 3 ready made cakes to eat in the next 5 days. (See how I just slid in that its my birthday this week? Such a slippery lil bastard )

Celebrations started early with dinner with the family on Friday. We chowed at the Marmalade Pantry.Instead of describing what we had, figured it'd be a lot easier to just take pictures of them. The sticky date pudding and the banana fritters with chocolate pudding was PHWOAR! Then watched White Chicks at night. I thought it was rather funny. Mum managed to stay awake for the entire show! Oh how cute is Marlon Wayans?

Watched Mamma Mia on Saturday with Sherin, her mum and Melissa. All of us lurrveed it! Its hard not to like ABBA... go watch and bring the folks! Dinner was at The Altivo on Saturday, nice place but not much of variety cos its more of a chill out have a drink place. It has a gorgeous view and its atop Mount Faber so check out the website. They have a wine bar, a hill bistro, a chill out lounge and a western deck. Quite fun lah.

OK GO!

Thanks Jacinta!

That comment came in really quick, I just finished uploading the pics!

Iqa's Hen Nite & Venessa's Birthday!

View all 38 photos...
Haha hen nights! Always has to involve some sort of major embarrassment or another. In Iqa's case, it involved abt 5! For starters, we played her out by telling her the dress code was all white then all of us turned up in black. Then she arrived at 1st stop BB Bar and was told she couldn't find us unless she perfomed her first task.(Amazing race style) In the first leg of the race, she had to kiss all the male staff, then she had to be blindfolded and was taken round Clarke Quay for an enchanting 10 min walk. When she was finally led to us, she had no idea that the night had just begun!

We had dinner at BB Bar, (Bangers & Mash were pretty good but the Salmon Burger was a bit of a no no). Good thing Faiqa didn't chow down much because she was going on the reverse bungee! The staff and manager were all clued in and they played along so they got her strapped in and seated next to a German guy called Sven. Away they went in a blast! It was scary.... the speed at which they shot up to that kind of height, I almost peed in my pants. We watched her on the video, and all we could make out was Iqa yelling: "I'm the queen of the universe!!!". Twice.

Sven, who was in Singapore for ths first time, very graciously paid for Faiqa and he was quite suave abt it too, cos we had no idea who did it til we made all the logical connections. The jump cost 40 bucks and you were only in the air abt 3 mins? Not very worth the hype... By that time we had her veil ready very creatively made from an NDP raincoat and white flowers which she had to wear to stop #2 - The 1 Night Stand comedy club. Was a shame that the club wasn't more packed because it was there that we embarrassed Iqa on stage, made her approach bald ang moh men to ask them to buy her a drink and make her act out shooter names for the bartender.

Through all of the laughs and loud music, the bride to be managed to squeeze in a little speech for each person about how much she appreciated each and every one. That was a very nice moment, I saw how everyone's face lit up and how each one felt really special. A lurp lurp moment indeed.

We then proceeded to Attica with Faiqa wearing her top Arti specially made for her with Fox sweets sewn randomly on the top. She had to go out and bid and raise money for her wedding selling off sweets which could only be unwrapped with strangers teeth! We got a few sporting people who obliged us! Didn't stay there long beacuse they proceeded to Coco Latte at Gallery Hotel shortly after, We reached there a lil late and missed the part when Faiqa made grown men cry when she was forced to dance and when they realised she was taking her grade A loins off the meat market.

It was a really enjoyable night, special thanks to Arti for all the hard work she put into planning the night and to all the grils we had fun with.

And to Faiqa - A blessed and blissful marriage!

Hi Hi! Food was good, the appetisers were miniscule, we just had to inhale

yi-vern: Sure to have more "going to wed" friends in time! Hope your friends dun pull these stunts on your hen nite!
